• December : Finished the creation of the beautifull slideshow "Verdon's Dragonflies 2011", to dowload from the site, See table of RainFalls in Vence for October = 129 & for November = 242 mm & also rain figures for Valbonne, Carros, St Cézaire-sur-Siagne, plus a beautifull kingfisher ("fish blue bird") staying in Vence since a week (He's now-20 dec 11- left the place) :

• October : Rain of september in Vence = 37,5 l/m2, after 2 l/m2 in august : a dry season begins ? plus a succesfull try of J-albums with 10 photographies of beautifull dragonflies recently seen in Vence and Gréoux-les-bains : click on the box to see the album :

• September : in Peymeinade , in the wild nature, met a beautiful butterfly with automnal colors : the Myrtil (female) , scientifically called Maniola jurtina :

and oupdate of rain datas figures of JULY raint (41mm in Vence, 3 TIMES the usual recent average falls !)

• July 2011 : Here are some beautiful Dragonflies seen along the Verdon at Gréoux-les-bains (new slideshow "dragonflies Verdon 2011" soon available by the end of august), extract of 3 pictures :

A "Sympétrum strié (ou fascié) mâle mature (yeux rouges)" , hunting :



A "Gomphe à crochets" blue eyed male (Onychogomphus uncatus) at rest :



and a female (adult) of "Caloptéryx méditerranéen" (Calopteryx hemorroïdalis) under the sun :



 

...and recently we had a new guest in the garden (I had sowed seeds of fennel to see if ever a Machaon would come and lay some eggs, and she did it !) : a pretty caterpillar of Papilio machaon , summer generation ( 80 à 90mm wide) , has just appeared : It should give us in a few weeks one of the finest butterflies of France :

and it has a strong appetite !

• April / May 2011 : Met a beautifull & particular shaped butterfly in Vence : A "Robert-le-diable" (Polygonia c-album), recently born off its chrysalide, on a lilas tree (we can see the little "C" drawn in wight under its backward wing) :

• January & February & March 2010 :  Rainfalls update in Vence , and St Cézaire-sur-Siagne, Valbonne, and Carros Village ... Good snowfall (25cm) over Vence on february 11 th , here is a "Chardonneret élégant" (carduelis carduelis, family of fringillidés) the day after (brrrr... !!!! ) :



 

• December 09 : The beautiful  heron of Var river comes back in our gardens (looking for fresh fishes !) :



• July & September & November 2009 :  Rainfalls update in Vence , Carros-Village , St Cézaire-sur-Siagne, and for Valbonne, (datas updated each month) , rather standardly dry this summer and typical (medium falls) for september, then dry again in octobre ... . work still in little progress on Estérel pictures gallery, answer to questions on Sonar convergence & blind zones exemples , and on butterflies of  Hautes-Alpes.. . and work also on a new "dragonflies" page, for example with this recently encountered  "red sympetrum" inside our Estérel regional natural park :



• May & June 2009 :  the 8 th : Rainfalls update in Vence , Carros-Village , St Cézaire-sur-Siagne,& Valbonne, for  April and May months. work in progress on Corse direct vision page, on Estérel pictures gallery, and on Sonar convergence & blind zones exemples.
• April 2009 : Update of rain measures for march month (still rainy, a bit boring, at last, isn't it ?) and created a new page on BIRDS observed this winter in the garden, have a look at it, some of the photos are worth while beeing seen ! (text translation not yet done)
• 6 march 2009 : Update of  rainfalls in Vence , Carros-Village , St Cézaire-sur-Siagne,& Valbonne, for february month : once again a rainy month (+200% rel. to the average rain quantities of this month of the year !)..6 to 7 days of rainfall in the month, & 110 to 140 l/m2 for a current average of 50 l/m2 ! I'm preparing a new photographs pageabout the "garden birds " seen in Vence this winter, like this little blue tom tit :



• February 7th, 2009 : Update of  rainfalls in Vence , Carros-Village & St Cézaire-sur-Siagne, Valbonne, for january 2009 : once again a rainy month (+75% rel. to the average rain quantities of this month of the year !)... (Valbonne's rainfalls : no excess, standard levels).
• January 18th, 2009 : Update of  RAIN in Carros-Village & St Cézaire-sur-Siagne, for last december : once again a rainy month, and so the ground waters should be OK for next summer .... plus rain in Valbonne-Mougins added 24th jan. ... continuing translation on Jan 29 th , with some help from British colleagues.
• January 1st, 2009 : Update of Rain in Vence for december 2008 : 206 l/m2 , the highest figure for at least 10 years !  AND begininf of the site translation ( I apologise in advance for the unavoidable mistakes)...

Second Topic : The Rain   which falls every month in Vence town (Alpes-Maritimes, altitude 1000 feet, located between Nice, Grasse and Cannes) , in Valbonne-Mougins-Mouans Sartoux  ,  Saint Cézaire-sur-Siagne,  and CARROS-Village , 4 places of Alpes-Maritimes, figures updated usually before the 10th of the following month.

SONAR

Third Topic of my Natural site : SONAR 's mysteries & simple tips about underwater acoustic propagation are evocated & explained , with sounds and pictures to illustrate the pages, in a simple and all public text. Several pages concern SONAR detection principles, books available on the subject, questions received by the net and their answers, and  a full explaination on SONAR equation      +   in preparation : ... SONAR's history bientôt synthétisée , + voir les autres projets sur ce thème de l'acoustique sous-marine, du sonar, des romans de sous-marins, et de la simulation sur PC de sous-marins, bâtiments de surface ASM, hélicoptères dotés de sonars actifs sur treuils ultra-rapides, d'avions de lutte ASM équipés de bouées actives ou passives commandables, etc... évolution permanente de cette partie du site, selon mon temps disponible pour cela... !

Flags (DRAPODOU Flag Visual Recognition Software)

Je lui ai ajouté le programme DRAPODOU (4ème volet du site) qui permet, par une description des couleurs d'un drapeau que l'on vient de voir, description faite en cliquant sur les boutons d'un formulaire HTML (+ leur disposition en bandes H ou V, les étoiles, etc....) , de trouver rapidement de quel pays il s'agit (ou région, ville ou village de France, ou d'un autre pays, selon le cas). A essayer sans modération, c'est instructif (capitale et pays voisins décrits) et divertissant !

en plus de ces 4 parties principales, une page "Téléchargements" permet de télécharger un très beau DIAPORAMA sonorisé sur les PAPILLONS que j'ai photographiés les étés derniers , ainsi qu' un second diaporama sur les ANNAQUARELLES , très belles aquarelles peintes à Vence par une artiste amateur associée à ce site (A.H.D.).

On accède à toutes ces pages à partir du portail graphique général du site Nareva en cliquant simplement sur les zones correspondantes.

How to navigate in the site :

• Sur la page d'accueil, d'un clic sur l'image des fleurs et peintures, on accède au portail général du site, d'où l'on peut choisir (toujours d'un clic sur les textes et zones correspondantes) :
  • de visiter la Galerie Peintures ou les galeries Photos ou les pages PAPILLONS directement (en cliquant au centre du portail, sur la zone du papillon et des fleurs). Ensuite, si l'on a choisi les Galeries PHOTOS, en cliquant sur les miniatures, on circule dans les différentes galeries (Peintures, Photos de Papillons, de Fleurs de montagne, de Paysages, de Roses, de photos insolites, etc ... puis dans chaque galerie, en cliquant sur une miniature, on accède à un agrandissement 1000*800 ou 1200*900 téléchargeable, ou bien on a accès à un album photo -créé avec les freeware Porta ou Xnview- avec toutes les fonctions associées...).
  • de suivre une initiation à l'acoustique sous-marine et au sonar (cliquer sur les images pour entendre les sons), page ASM ; 
  • de suivre les précipitations atmosphériques à Vence , Valbonne-Mougins-Mouans Sartoux, St Cézaire-sur-Siagne  et Carros-Village (06) la pluie mois par mois depuis 7 ans ou plus, et les moyennes mensuelles mesurées sur 7 ans et celles plus anciennes (mesurées sur 20 ans de 1951 à 1970), tirées du livre de J.Kessler "La Météo de la France";
  • de reconnaître un drapeau vu lors d'une promenade, une cérémonie , une coupe du monde de foot, ...en cliquant sur les boutons des couleurs vues, grâce au programme DRAPODOU,
• En revenant sur le portail, on pourra voir et visiter les sites favoris proposés, écrire un petit mot (merci de donner votre avis, vos critiques, et vos suggestions ( je les mettrai ensuite dans le livre d'or), ou envoyer un message (vos commentaires, idées, etc) à l'auteur du site, qui vous en remercie à l'avance.

2010 Projects for Nareva Nature web sites ...  

• See Nareva.eu web site (it explains the aims & contents of the 3 nareva nature web sites under construction 2010 : this nareva.info site will be dedicated to Informations on Nature & natural phenomena (sonar, rain, direct vision of Corsica coasts from continent, Flags recognition, etc) ... its "artistic part" (water and oil paints & drawings) will be transfered to a new "Art & Nature" dedicated site : nareva.net (under construction) , and all the photographic albums on nature (landscapes, flowers, birds, solar clocks, ....) will be localised on another new dedicated "Photos & Nature" nareva.fr web site (under construction too .. a lot of work hey ?. )
• En acoustique sous-marine, après "Les équations du SONAR" en 2008-9, travaux d'écriture (en cours pour 2009-2010) d' une "Histoire du Sonar et de l' Acoustique sous-marine" depuis Aristote, avec son traité "De Anima" puis son "Histoire des Animaux", oeuvres dans lesquelles il développe sa théorie du son en milieu aquatique, puis Léonard de Vinci, Newton, l'abbé Nollet, Laplace, Colladon et Sturm, Lord Rayleigh, les frères Curie, Langevin, l'histoire est longue et intéressante ! ..., . Ecriture en préparation aussi, d'une bibliographie des meilleurs romans ASM de T.CLANCY, S.COONTS, M.DIMERCURIO, Clive CUSSLER, etc...), ainsi que d'une présentation des récents simulateurs de sous-marins sur PC (n'hésitez pas à l' acquérir avant qu'il ne disparaisse des rayons, "Dangerous Waters" jeu PC SONAR superbement conçu en vente actuellement autour de 40 € si le sujet vous intéresse, il vaut vraiment le coup -réalisme, ambiance propre aux sous-marins modernes, pratique complète de nombreux SONARS passifs et actifs, etc...) .
• Page with my own pictures and explainations (theory & applied computations) on the phenomenon of direct vision of Corse coasts and mountains from Vence , Gourdon, or Grasse hills, on winter cold & dry mornings ...
